Pastimes for Business People

Business people need ways to destress just like anyone else, but they also use their pastimes to accomplish things such as business deals. My sister once told me that she was taking classes at a golf school to learn how to golf better, because in her field — the business banking industry — most deals are made on the golf course.
Golf is a huge leisure pastime for business people. Think about how often you’ve passed a golf course and seen folks in business casual going from hole to hole on their golf carts. You may not know it, but a lot of times there is probably a business relationship being formed there, or a business deal being negotiated.
As my sister told me, it benefitted her to know how to play golf — and play it well. Otherwise golf — the arena where most deals get signed — is just another "boys’ club" that women bankers aren’t invited to. She had to be able to match the men swing for swing, so she found someone to teach golf so that she could hold her own with the guys. She was looking for a professional golf career or anything, but she did need to uphold her reputation when she takes clients to the golf course!
