The Healing Power of the Mind

People are always looking for alternative medicine — non-traditional ways to heal their bodies. That’s why you have accupuncture, hypnosis, faith healings, and a different kind of vitamin for pretty much everything under the sun.
But here’s a new way to use the mind to heal and invigorate the body: a type of yoga called Dahn Yoga. This type of yoga also draws from tai chi and the martial arts. The focus is not only on the body, but also on the mind: The purpose is to help the individual realize the infinite power of his or her brain. Many benefits have been cited, among them the healing of various illnesses, diseases, and injuries.
For instance, conditions Dahn Yoga has been credited with improving and/or curing include:
- Back injuries
- Tension and pain in the shoulders and neck
- Migraines
- Insomnia and other sleep disorders
- Digestive problems
- Chronic stress
- Obesity and other weight problems
- Multiple Sclerosis
Although Dahn Yoga began in Korea, it has quickly spread internationally, becoming a popular type of exercise even in the United States. For instance, you can find Dahn Yoga in Chicago and other major cities, often in the form of classes, videos, and books.
