Ideas for Artist’s Dates

I have started working through The Artist’s Way book by Julia Cameron. This is a set of thoughts and tasks that you complete over the course of twelve weeks. The goal is to use the information gained from the tasks to get back on track with your creative side.

One of the required tasks of this program is to take yourself on weekly Artist’s Dates. This is a set date that you have with yourself once a week. It is to get some time alone to go do something fun with yourself. This inspires you and makes you more in tune with your creative desires.

An artist date might be anything that makes you feel inspired. For example, if you’re interested in boating then you may take yourself to a Marine Supply store to browse through the marine accessories there. If you are someone who likes sewing then you could go to a fabric store.

Sounds simple enough. I’m having trouble figuring out what to do on my own artist dates, though. The problem is that I’m not sure what inspires me anymore. I guess I’ll just have to commit to going on a bunch of dates with myself until I can figure it out!
