Kite Aerial Photography

There are many different platforms professional photographers and hobbyists use for the practice of aerial photography. The most common platforms include airplanes, helicopters, blimps and hot air balloons. However, a fun and unique alternative to these more common platforms is kite aerial photography.
In order to use a kite for aerial mapping and photography one must connect a camera to a kite typically via an adjustable rig. Then, he or she allows the kite to lift up into the air. The camera used can either be a simple devise consisting of some sort of trigger mechanism that allows the photographer on land to take pictures. Or, the camera can be more complicated and use radio controls and digital imaging.
May people use kites for their aerial photography opposed to other means of aircraft because kites are much less expensive to use. Also, many people enjoy the process of flying kites and physically taking the pictures.
Regardless of what means of aircraft you use to take your shots, aerial views offer a fresh, new perspective of our everyday landscapes. Plus, aerial photography also gives new meaning to the phrase “go fly a kite.”
