Truck Tool Boxes: See What They’re Made Of
By EntRP on Aug 17, 2008 in Automotive
Truck tool boxes such as tool totes, trailer tongue tool boxes or other truck storage units should be built to withstand both the items they carry and being carried around themselves. When choosing a durable truck tool box, there are a few important factors to consider if you want to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your hard-earned buck.
The tool box lid is an important component of the unit itself, and should ideally be built using more than one separate stiffener to maintain its durability. The full inner lid stiffener should completely cover the inside of the lid with a nice finish that looks clean and doesn’t compromise quality. The lid should also have a layer of rigid foam insulation for maximum strength.
Another important component to truck tool boxes is a multipurpose tool holder. Unlike the more flimsy, screwdriver rack such as the ones found in many department store truck tool boxes, a multipurpose tool holder should have a range of hole sizes to fit various tools. It should also be welded rather than just riveted to ensure years of service.
Having a durable molded tray inside your truck tool box is also a good feature for storage. With separate compartments, these trays are ideal for holding smaller items.
