Golf Careers

Golf careers, and the golf industry in general, seem to show no sign of letting up, even in this down economy. Here’s an intro video that discusses some of the possible careers you could have in the golf industry.

The Cookie Idea for Diets Is Wonderful

Have you ever had a Diet Cookie?  They’re actually pretty good.  They’re nothing like the tasteless rocks that used to be sold in the super markets.  Matter of fact, I first was introduced to these while on an actual commercial diet.  Now, I see things like “breakfast cookies” in King Sooper’s that are fat and full of fiber and nutrients.

I bet diets like Diet Miami don’t have these.  I’m always afraid of those diets from Florida or California because my impression is that those have a lot of weird drinks, fruits and salads.  Fine, but I also need breads and carbs, not to mention proteins.  And I’ve been on diets before where the desserts were nothing more than a morsel, which I appreciated because prior to that there were no desserts whatsoever.  But these now that are kinda large and filling plus having fiber, now that’s nice!

I’d rather eat a few cookies a day than just drink liquids two or three times a day.  Some of those diets are like that.  I used to like those shakes, but boy I couldn’t drink more than one a day.  My stomach feels squirrely and unfulfilled.  I’m hoping that this will feel a lot better.

Where does the time go

Well it has finally happened. I am officially old. My best friend from high school called me up today and said that we had to go shopping for maternity clothes and maternity dresses at the mall today, and that it was not for her sister this time, but for her. I can not believe it. Where does the time go. I do not feel like I am that old, and I sure as heck do not feel like we are old enough for my best friend from high school to be married, let alone having children. But I sure am excited for her!

It all used to be so simple. We were members in the marching band and would spend our Friday nights out at the football games having fun and making music and goofing off. We would go on road trips to Disneyland with the band and have so much fun just being young and free and without any real kind of responsibility at all. It does not seem like it has been so long since those days that she can possibly understand the kind of commitment and responsibility that it takes to have kids already. Yet I know that all our other friends have started down the same path too. Maybe it will happen for me too someday.

Storage Encourages Purge

When my daughter moved to Allen storage of her belongings became a huge issue.  My husband and I were buying a smaller home and Katie just had a small apartment she was renting with a friend.  My daughter had accumulated a lot of possessions in her 23 years from stuffed animals to sports trophies.  While she didn’t want to take everything with her, she wasn’t quite ready to throw away any of her belongings, either.  And my husband and I seriously doubted that we would have room for everything in our new house.

I told my daughter to look into self storage facilities in Allen so she could store her stuff near by.  That way she could slowly go through it and decide what she wanted to keep.  We held on to her trophies and awards, but everything else would have to go into self storage

She found a place near by and we rented a truck to move all of her stuff down.  Amazingly, once we got there, she immediately started figuring out what she wanted to keep and what could be donated.   And it’s a good thing, too:  she had so much stuff she would have needed to rent two storage units!
