Never Thought it Would be Like This

I’m a year out of college, and I thought I would have all the options and my entire life in front of me.  Instead, I feel like I’m completely trapped in a shell of my own making.  I’m significantly in debt.  I don’t regret any of it; part of it paid for my master’s degree and part of it paid for countless amazing and unique experiences that I wouldn’t ever trade for something else, much less financial security.  I also didn’t realize that follow my passions and living my life in an authentic way would mean that I don’t have a steady job and I can’t support myself.

So with almost $20,000.00 in debt, I’m slinking back home, terrified.  It’s the last resort: I tried getting a debt consolidation counselor and loan, and I tried a payday cash advance.  Unfortunately, I didn’t actually have a payday upcoming, and I am screwed.  I barely make enough to pay the bills, and not the rent.  Unfortunately, I didn’t realize in college just how painful it could be to just breezily pass the credit card through the machine, and I especially did not realize that the ultimate cost of it might be my dreams, my passion, my options, my choices.

Better Work Outs

I’ve been following a segment on ESPN’s Truehoop about sports journalists going through a sort of pro-style one-week basketball training camp, and it made me realize that there are a lot of reasons why athletes are in better shape than the average person.  Aside from the genetic aspect, their workouts are cool.  First of all, it’s their job, not in addition to their job.  And second, they have all these cool resources that make it more fun and more effective.

To start, they have a structured workout that actually works and top of the line equipment that actually works.  My local 24-Hour Fitness is pretty nice, but their personal trainer programs cost a bunch of money, and their equipment isn’t immune to the occasional malfunction that takes a week to fix. They have a Hot tub and I like to use it on occasion, when it isn’t broken down.

I think it’s really the after-workout program that appeals to me.  After their workout, the participants in the program got to take a dip in the hot tube, spend 10 minutes in the ice tub and get a professional masseuse.  Even the participants admitted that it made the next day infinitely better than their usual day-afters.

I’m thinking maybe I’ll go down to the discount hot tubs and spas outlet and get a portable hot tub to sit in after my workouts.  That way I’ll be more inclined to stay in shape… or drink beer in the hot tub.  I think I win either way.

Taking Chances in the Wilderness

I’ve never been fly fishing, but I have been to Georgia. On the way to Florida, I’ve been down I-95 and both I-85 and I-75, from the country through Atlanta, and back into the country again. On a road stop, a tourism worker said, “georgia fishing is good.” I have tried fishing. There are lots of people that fish along the ocean in New York, and some have even showed me how. I wasn’t successful. That doesn’t mean I’d never try it again, because I like nature and going on trips, so one day I may look for the best bass fishing trip out there, or even try fly fishing.

So when the day comes, I’ll do my product research and get all the things I need to go on a fly fishing trip and maybe even head down to Georgia. There’s nothing like being on the water, or wading through it on a warm sunny day with nature all around. It is still a wonder that with all the cities and all the development that has grown over many landscapes, there are still expanses of wilderness that seem endless and which a person can let loose in and even get lost for a while. While getting lost can be dangerous, it can also be fun if you’re careful. There may be some tasty fish out there as well.

Things You Can Do to Increase Overall Health Homeopathically

We tend to think that only people who suffer from allergies can benefit form something like a whole house air filter, but really, any and everyone should consider using one of these things to keep their health in check.

Not only does this type of filter clean the air, it can eliminate a great percentage of the pathogens that tend to flourish without such protections in place.  Since we spend a good portion of our time in our homes, we can greatly reduce the types of bacteria and viruses we encounter on a daily basis.

Keeping homeopathy kits on hand can be beneficial as well, since these items contain vials of natural remedies that trump traditional medicines.

A water distiller is another excellent buy for people who want to walk towards a more natural path towards help. A distiller can purify the water you drink, eradicating many of the heavy metals that can be found in water that comes from the tap.

If you are truly serious about perusing more holistic and homeopathic ways of life, there are even more things you can do.  Look online, do you homework and above all, consult with a physician prior to starting any diet and/or adopting a new lifestyle regimen.
