If anybody is look for a great gift idea, I have just the thing: gift baskets. I have never thought of giving out gift baskets until I got very sick last year and spent some time in the hospital after surgery. Well, I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is the boss just assigned me a major project at work. And when I say major, I mean it. This is a top account of ours, and it shows the boss really trusts me and values my judgment.

The bad news? It’s a lot of work. Seriously, this is easily the biggest project I’ve worked on to date. We’re talking at least 6 months of non-stop daily work with a lot of benchmarks along the way.

That’s why I’m considering finding some good online project management software. I need one with resource allocation and detailed project time tracking. That way, I can have a good handle on the project to make sure we’re giving it the daily attention it needs to be completed on time.

In many ways, my future at this company relies on this project. If I show my boss I’m capable of succeeding at such a big project, it could spell a promotion for me. On the other hand, if I botch this project, it could be a disaster. If I don’t get fired, the best thing that would happen is I would be stuck in my current position forever.
