Pastimes for Business People

Business people need ways to destress just like anyone else, but they also use their pastimes to accomplish things such as business deals.  My sister once told me that she was taking classes at a golf school to learn how to golf better, because in her field — the business banking industry — most deals are made on the golf course.

Golf is a huge leisure pastime for business people.  Think about how often you’ve passed a golf course and seen folks in business casual going from hole to hole on their golf carts.  You may not know it, but a lot of times there is probably a business relationship being formed there, or a business deal being negotiated.

As my sister told me, it benefitted her to know how to play golf — and play it well.  Otherwise golf — the arena where most deals get signed — is just another "boys’ club" that women bankers aren’t invited to.  She had to be able to match the men swing for swing, so she found someone to teach golf so that she could hold her own with the guys.  She was looking for a professional golf career or anything, but she did need to uphold her reputation when she takes clients to the golf course!

What To Do After Losing Florida Group Health Insurance

Many of us, especially those with families, live in fear of losing our jobs and with them, our Florida group health insurance plans. While we all hope this frightening scenario never happens, some of us may be faced with this challenge at some point. When you find yourself without health insurance FL residents can shop for their own individual or family policies, until a new employer is found and insurance coverage kicks in. Otherwise, you might be able to continue coverage through your original policy for a certain period of time by using a COBRA plan offered by your previous employer. While this type of insurance continuation can be costly, it is certainly better than having a health crisis arise and no medical coverage to handle the bills.

While your employer is not required to continue to pay a portion of your premiums, most employees have a right to continue their coverage under a COBRA plan for a certain period of time. This gives you enough time to find another position and activate your insurance benefits, or to find a suitable personal insurance policy. Though you are entitled by law to Florida health insurance continuation, this is generally not the most affordable option, but can be a real lifesaver in a precarious situation.

Truck Tool Boxes: See What They’re Made Of

Truck tool boxes such as tool totes, trailer tongue tool boxes or other truck storage units should be built to withstand both the items they carry and being carried around themselves. When choosing a durable truck tool box, there are a few important factors to consider if you want to make sure you’re getting the best bang for your hard-earned buck.

The tool box lid is an important component of the unit itself, and should ideally be built using more than one separate stiffener to maintain its durability. The full inner lid stiffener should completely cover the inside of the lid with a nice finish that looks clean and doesn’t compromise quality. The lid should also have a layer of rigid foam insulation for maximum strength.

Another important component to truck tool boxes is a multipurpose tool holder. Unlike the more flimsy, screwdriver rack such as the ones found in many department store truck tool boxes, a multipurpose tool holder should have a range of hole sizes to fit various tools. It should also be welded rather than just riveted to ensure years of service.

Having a durable molded tray inside your truck tool box is also a good feature for storage. With separate compartments, these trays are ideal for holding smaller items.

He’s so Dreamy

When I started looking for teen bedding for my growing girl, I was having problems finding something she would like. This was more than just me buying bedding for my daughter, this was me buying bedding for my daughter as a gift. While normally I could probably just buy her whatever and get away with it, in this case it had to be something she liked, otherwise it would be a bad gift.

One idea I had, however, was to go with unique personalized gifts. My thought was that since I couldn’t find any prints she would like, I would simply make up a print myself so that she would definitely like it. I did this by getting her personalized photo blankets with her favorite boy groups on them. She was into that “boy band” phase and, by getting her a blanket with her favorite singers’ photo on it,  I could combine her favorite thing with a gift that made sense for me as well.

The only problem I had is that my husband is not particularly fond of the idea of his daughter snuggling up with even photos of boys, but he was never a teenage girl, so he’s going to need to get over it.

Going to Banff

With Canada tours, you never know exactly what you are going to get. I remember on my first one I got one of the Banff vacation package and travelled, by foot, through a lot of the green areas of that part of the country. There was a lot to see – certainly more than I assumed when I decided to go on this trip – and it was these that made me want to go back.

Going Back

My second trip was as exciting as the first. I took one of the Canada ski vacations and set off towards the top of the mountain, fully equipped in all of the latest gear (that I had rented for a mildly hefty sum, but no matter) and slid down the hill for the rest of the day. And it actually took the rest of the day, because I was a terrible skier and constantly was falling on my behind as I went. But oh well, at least I had a good time, I got to drink a lot of hot chocolate, and I learned that the next time I come to the Rockies I am probably going to try out snowboarding instead. Much better idea.
